Marketing communications is at the core of any organisation in an increasingly global, competitive and dynamic industry where understanding consumer behaviour has never been so important. You will most likely specialise in making sure the marketing 'message' is heard and seen by the target audience through media communications and campaigns.
This current and applied course provides a solid foundation in business and a focus on Marketing Communications from Year 2 is available for those seeking a career in communications, particularly in an agency environment. You will explore the functions and theories of marketing communications, particularly consumer behaviour and key contemporary marketing issues facing business. You will investigate areas such as political marketing (around elections), sports marketing and social marketing through cutting-edge modules and expert-led teaching in key areas of advertising, key account management, market research, digital marketing and direct marketing.
You are encouraged to undertake a 40-week paid placement relevant to this degree supported by an award-winning placement team. UWE has a strong and growing network of placement organisations and, to date, students have secured marketing and business-related placements in a variety of organisations including Mini, Disney, Coca Cola, Intel, GlaxoSmithKline and other small, medium and multi-national organisations. There are also opportunities and support to set up your own business. |
