Mechanical engineers play an important role in many of the products in the world around us. This involvement can range from design, manufacture and development, through to the management or marketing of products. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering, you have the opportunity to use your skills in whatever sector you wish.
Accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), this course shares the same first year as the aerospace and automotive engineering degrees. So after developing a strong grounding in the fundamentals of engineering in your first year, there's the option to transfer onto one of these. As you progress, you will increase your understanding of stress analysis, dynamics, heat transfer, mechatronics, materials and manufacture before you specialise in your final year. Throughout the course, you will get lots of hands-on experience testing theories in our well-equipped laboratories. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Tariff points: 300.
