Description:

Civil engineering involves the planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of structures and public works, and altering geography to suit human needs. Civil engineering technologists work on various aspects of built structures, highways, marine structures, harbour clean-up projects, and more. This program will give you an overview of the field in the context of environmental sustainability, so that you can develop projects that are feasible, practical, and ecologically sensitive. Participating in the building of a project is an empowering process, where you can see the results of your efforts.

Graduates in this program have a variety of options for employment that include laboratory analysis and testing of materials used in civil engineering projects, structural design, steel detailing, municipal design, project management, technical sales, inspection of construction projects, surveying, technical writing for consultants, governmental agencies, contractors, and material suppliers.
