Accounting is offered to grades ten, eleven and twelve students who desire bookkeeping for personal or small business use, or who plan to take university or college courses in accounting, computer science, or business administration.
Accounting 10 Content includes bookkeeping fundamentals, the use of accounts, analyzing transactions, journalizing, posting, trial balance and work sheets, financial statements, and closing the books.
Accounting 20 Prerequisite: Accounting 10 Content includes accounting for a service business (see Accounting 10) and accounting for a merchandising business: purchases, sales, cash receipts and cash payments, worksheet, and adjustments. Computerized accounting is also part of the course.
Work Experience Education 30A, 30B No prerequisite: Two credits. Offered to grades eleven and twelve students only.
Note: Students must register in both courses and are registered for periods 4 and 5 for a full semester. Work Experience Education 30A and 30B make up a two-credit course that requires each student to complete in-class assignments and on-site work assignments within the community. The work experiences provide students with the opportunity to develop a better understanding of their own interests and aptitudes while learning more about the conditions they will encounter when they enter the world of work. Students require their own transportation to get to and from work sites. Additional costs will be incurred by the students for items such as parking, police checks, first aid courses, and so on.
Entrepreneurship 30 This course assists students in developing entrepreneurial attitudes, skills, and abilities. They will learn to examine entrepreneurship as a career. Students will research ideas and opportunities thoroughly to find new enterprise ideas, approaches, and methods. The course will help students discover the risks and possible problems that might arise when opening a business. The course will encourage a spirit of entrepreneurship. |
