The course is approximately two thirds Hispanic Studies; one third Japanese. Language training is a big part of the course. You will also take modules in the culture and society of Japan, Spain and Latin American countries. Second-year modules in Hispanic Studies explore literature, art, pop culture, society and linguistics. For example, you might study the politics of conformity in Franco's Spain and the cinema of the Hispanic world. Your language training continues, preparing you for your year abroad.
Your year abroad is split between Japan and Spain or a Latin American country. Recent placements include internships at a corporate services firm in Panama, marketing and events in the Canary Islands and volunteering in Costa Rica. Or you could spend the year studying at two leading universities. When you return to Sheffield for your final year, you'll be confident, energised and inspired.
