The Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) degrees are four-year undergraduate degrees offered jointly by the Faculty of Science and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. You are registered as a Medical Sciences student in Years 1 and 2, and apply to the BMSc Program when you enter Year 3. In the BMSc program, you will study basic medical sciences and focus on all aspects of biology that define and influence the human condition. Emphasis is placed on understanding the normal human condition, mechanisms of current treatment and the search for cures.
If you’re looking for an interdisciplinary approach and a broader education in the basic medical sciences, you can study the Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences (IMS) as an alternative to discipline-specific modules. You’ll have the flexibility to access courses offered by all of the Basic Medical Science departments and you’ll gain a greater understanding of the interrelationship between the basic medical sciences in the investigation of a clinical disease.
You can complete this program as a Bachelor or an Honours Bachelor degree. Registration in the honours degree begins when you enter the BMSc program in 3rd year and begin the IMS module.
