Requirements for Canadian Students

Individual courses may have differing sets of entry requirements. Find the specific entry requirements on your chosen course’s webpage by searching UAL’s course listings.

For degree preparation and undergraduate level, entry requirements for Canadian students usually include a High School Diploma plus a portfolio of work. For undergraduate courses, students may also be required to hold a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and attend an interview at application stage.

As part of the application process, we usually require the following:

  • Personal statement
  • A copy of your academic transcripts (officially translated into English)
  • A copy of your English language certificate, if English is not your first language
  • A copy of your passport and any current UK visa
  • Immigration history form
  • A portfolio of relevant work for practice-based courses

If English isn’t your first language, you will need to prove your language level with a qualification like the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Visit the English language entry requirements information page for details.

Procedure for Canadian Students

The application process will depend on the course you’ve chosen. Your course page on the UAL website is where you apply from and it includes all the details you need on how to apply, including:

  • entry requirements - grades, qualifications, experience, skills, English language
  • how to apply - different ways to apply
  • documents you'll need - like portfolios, references or qualifications
  • application deadlines - the date you need to apply by
  • help and support - how UAL can support you
  • fees and funding - the cost of your course and where you can get funding.

UAL also offers further application advice for international students.

Application help and advice is available to Canadian students via representatives based in Canada. These representatives can help you through the whole application process, from enquiry to enrolment, free of charge. They can advise you on the differences between UAL’s Colleges and courses, how to prepare your portfolio, how to apply, and can arrange a face-to-face interview in your country.

If you would like to apply to multiple undergraduate courses at more than one university in the UK, you should apply through UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
