Founded by Kensen Saito in 1990, the Shiatsu Academy of Tokyo (SAT) was established to educate highly-qualified Shiatsu practitioners. As the only registered Shiatsu school recognized by the International Shiatsu Association in Eastern North America and one of the eight international schools authorized by the Japan Shiatsu College to teach Shiatsu, SAT is one of the foremost schools in Canada for Shiatsu education. Upon completion of our course, our students are eligible to take the Shiatsu Therapist Association of Ontario exam, as well as the exam of the Shiatsu Diffusion Society. We offer programs to students with no prior medical education or experience as well as to students with medical or other health care training.

Shiatsu is a therapeutic and safe hands-on therapy. It is the application of soothing and gentle pressure to various anatomical points of the body using only the thumbs, the fingers, and the palms of the hand to draw out the natural healing ability that is in the patient’s body.
