The Academy of Hair Design was founded in 1985. The Academy's 6500 square foot facility offers a professional learning environment for each student and comfortable waiting area for the clients. The facility consists of administrative offices, student lunch room and locker area and provides classroom and practical working spaces for students. Each workstation is equipped with hydraulic chair, barbacide and the student's kit and tools for working on clients. The Academy of Hair Design is conveniently located at 200 Union St. in the centre of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

The Academy of Hair Design cannot guarantee a student employment. The Academy will however do all that is possible to assist students in finding employment upon graduation. Practical work experience is the final part of the course and is arranged for students in salons that are looking to hire new stylists. The Academy students are the most sought after by area salons because of the extensive hands on experience they receive on live clientele while at the Academy, typically over 200 clients each. There can be four to five salons posted on the bulletin board at any one time looking for stylists.
