Kitimat Valley Institute for Industrial Education is located in beautiful Kitimat, British Columbia. Most of Kitimat's workforce is employed by the three major industries: Alcan, Eurocan and Methanex.
McNab Morris Developments Limited, established in 1999 by Nancy McNab and Lorna Morrison, offered an extensive part time program in Power Engineering, originally in partnership with BCIT, then later with SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology). The seats for this program were filled with employees from the major industries in Kitimat. Industry managers felt that qualified people applying for jobs as power engineers had completed training, but lacked the hands-on experience in the industry in these communities; therefore, with the initial support of, Alcan, Eurocan and Methanex, time and equipment were offered and a power engineering school was established.
We specialize in industrial education with a focus on Power Engineering. Understanding the enduring value of quality education and our mission to be a leader in industrial education, KVI chose to dedicate the necessary resources to achieve this important accreditation goal. KVI students may feel confident that PCTIA has reviewed our operation and has granted it their highest qualification, in accordance with a province-wide, consistent policy.
