Profile

Northlands College was established in January of 1988, through the amalgamation of the region's three community colleges. Northlands College provides a full range of programs and services for adult learners throughout the northern half of the province. The College is governed by a nine member Board of Directors representative of Northern Saskatchewan. With its Administration centre in Air Ronge, Northlands College operates program centres in Buffalo Narrows, La Ronge and Creighton; and classes in most of the north's 40 communities.

Areas of Expertise

A number of programs offered here are unique to northern Saskatchewan, including Underground Mining, Mine/Mill Worker and Prospecting. Northlands now offers a full first-year and second-year university program, working directly with the two provincial universities, allowing students from northern Saskatchewan an opportunity to complete first-year university without going to Regina or Saskatoon.

On Campus Housing

The College has student housing or residencies available in La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows, and Creighton. Out of town students registered in full-time programs of study have priority in the allocation of student housing. All students will be required to sign a rental agreement and lease with Northlands College.

Incoming Students

Northlands College has counsellors and student advisors on staff that can help students and prospective students in a number of areas. Staff are situated in three regional offices and make scheduled visits to outlying communities. While counsellors and student advisors can usually meet with individuals when they drop in, appointments can be made by calling a program centre. The College staff is available to enhance your success as a student at Northlands College. Our role is to assist you in achieving your educational goals.

Career Planning

Our counselling staff will work with you to assess your vocational interests and other areas related to career decisions. This process will help identify training paths that are related to your career goal. The Career Resource Centres, situated in the program centres, are equipped with a variety of resources: education calendars; application forms; occupational information; job search; study skills; and various career exploration tools.
