Established in 1991, Maple Leaf Academy (MLA) has become highly recognized for its innovative approaches to language instruction. The school is located in the heart of downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada (less than two hours from Banff and Lake Louise by car) on the 2nd floor of 731- 6th Ave SW. The central location provides students convenient access (within a six block radius) to some of Calgary's finest restaurants, boutiques, museums, libraries, banks, parks, and recreational facilities. The school is unique in the Calgary area, because students receive specialized instruction by a variety of teachers. The staff at Maple Leaf Academy are all experienced teachers and come from a variety of different backgrounds. Some members of the staff include a professional writer, a highly recognized dramatist, a published pronunciation expert, and a former editor of the Calgary Herald.

A Homestay program is available to all private students, whether they are involved in the mainstream English Studies program (ESL), high school, or Special Programs. To apply for the Homestay Program, you can fill out an International Student Homestay Application form online.

The Homestay programs provide the opportunity for a variety of activities and trips to interesting areas like world-famous Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper.
