We offer year round quality English programs for adults who wish to improve their English for career or business reasons, or who need to learn English to enter colleges and universities in Canada and the United States. We are located in the heart of downtown Vancouver and Toronto, close to art galleries, museums, theatres, libraries, waterfront markets, and all major transportation lines. PLI has established linkages with a number of universities and colleges to facilitate students' entry to these institutions. Each of these institutions has agreed to accept PLI students from a specified level without the requirements of a TOEFL score. We also offer an exciting activities program, which includes both indoor and outdoor activities to suit a variety of interests. In Vancouver, popular activities include ice skating, daytrips, weekend trips, Lake Cruises, visits to art galleries and museums, and dinners.

PLI specializes in teaching English to adults. We provide an excellent opportunity to learn English in an international atmosphere. We offer eight levels of Communication Skills classes, from beginner to advanced. All students studying 20 or more hours per week have the choice of taking Specific Skills Options classes, depending on their level. Other programs offered include TOEFL and TOEIC Preparation, Cambridge Exam Preparation, Business English, English Internship, and an Academic Year of eight or nine months.

PLI has an excellent homestay program. Our homestay co-ordinators carefully select families who live within 20 to 40 minutes by public transport of the school. Students are given a separate bedroom and shared household facilities. If two students are staying with the same homestay family, we always ensure that they are from different language groups. We have recently introduced ‘premium homestays’. For an extra cost, we can guarantee you a private bathroom. We can also arrange other accommodation options, such as apartments and residences. Airport Pick Up For an additional cost of $60.00, we can arrange an airport pick up for you. Please send us your flight information at least two weeks before you arrive.

Students have free access to e-mail and Internet through our Computer Lab and Internet Café.

Each class is equipped with textbooks, dictionaries, reference books, tape recorders, listening centres, and VCRs. Our instructors are available for individual consultation and our staff can assist with visa renewal, insurance queries, and medical/dental referrals.
