Cambrian College in Sudbury is one of the 24 colleges of applied arts and technology that comprise the Ontario College System. Established in 1967, the College System provides career oriented education that combines theory with practical, hands on experience to ensure an educated, skilled graduate who is more quickly and easily integrated into the work force.

The residences at the Barrydowne Campus can accommodate 677 students in total. There is a 300-bed townhouse-style residence; each unit provides kitchen and living room space, and six individual bedrooms along with basic furnishings and appliances. Two bedrooms in four of the 50 units have design adjustments to provide for students with special needs. There is also a 377-bed dorm-style residence; each suite consists of two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen with a fridge and microwave.

The Student Employment Services and Co-op Placement Office provides career and employment services to Cambrian College students, graduates, and alumni. Staff are available to assist with writing résumés and cover letters, planning for job interviews, and utilizing the Internet in job searching. A listing of full-time, part-time, summer, and contract positions is also maintained.

The student governments offer a number of activities throughout the academic year for Cambrian students. There are always socials, pub nights, and other celebrations held at the Student Centre - On the Rocks.
There are numerous clubs and associations available including the Students' Administrative Council (SAC), the Cambrian Native Students' Association (CNSA), the Nurses' Association, Vision (Graphic Design Club), the Cambrian College Criminal Justice Association, the International Club, and the Mature Students' Association.
Students have access to open labs that are available throughout the day, evening, and on weekends. Internet and email access are available to all registered students from any computer lab.
The Cambrian Native Students' Association (CNSA) represents both Native and non-Native Cambrian students who have an interest in First Nations' culture. Elections for council are held at the general meeting in September.
One aim of the multi-service Glenn Crombie Centre for Accessibility, Counselling, and Wellness is to furnish equal access to education to all students, including those with documented permanent and temporary disabilities. Cambrian is involved in several international projects and has hosted students from Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ecuador, Spain, Bermuda, Peru, Libya, Japan, China, India, and Hong Kong. Cambrian International, a department within the College, coordinates all international activities at Cambrian. Services available to international students include an orientation program upon arrival, special English language courses, and cultural activities.
