The University's halls of residence are available to students who have an offer for a place on a course at the University. There are 12 residences available across the various colleges.

We encourage you to pick five hall preferences when you apply, as that will give us a better indicator as to what your preferred choices are. We will try to give you one of your five preferences. Please apply early to avoid disappointment - the sooner you apply the more likely you are to get one of these choices.

Most rooms have a private bathroom and residents share a kitchen. Some are 'room only', where students share the bathroom and kitchen, and there are also self-contained studios. All rooms include a bed, desk, chair and wardrobe, and all halls have CCTV, secure entry and staff available 24 hours a day. If you are new to London we strongly recommend you visit the city to look for a room, flat or house to rent from a private landlord or agent. It's essential that you view the accommodation before you pay any money, to ensure the accommodation offer is genuine and the accommodation is good to live in. We co-operate with University of London Housing Services (ULHS), and as a UAL student you are entitled to use the services provided by ULHS. Here at UAL we have a Postgraduate Community initiative active across all of our six colleges. The Postgraduate Community initiative aims to build and provide access to a diverse programme of events that target our entire postgraduate taught and research student body. This will enable postgraduate students to gain access to events and opportunities from all disciplines to nurture collaboration, networking and knowledge sharing which will in turn provide an informed, connected and confident 'Super Generation' of arts professionals.

Careers and Employability is the University's dedicated careers and enterprise service. We are here to support students and graduates embark on their professional futures in the creative industries. Careers and Employability is part of the Teaching and Learning Exchange, which brings together a range of services that support learning and teaching in UAL. We help UAL students and graduates find jobs, set up a businesses, and sell their work. We run events throughout the Colleges on all aspects of the career journey. UAL's Students' Union offers access a range of sports clubs from football and rugby to contemporary dance and snow sports. A full list of sports clubs, both competitive and non-competitive, can be found on the Students' Union website.

As part of this unique community you’ll have access to cross-disciplinary talks, exhibitions, performances, screenings, festivals and workshops. A series of Pop-Up postgraduate common room events have been specially designed to give you a cultural and creative space to enhance your learning experience and networks. You’ll have the opportunity to talk with postgraduate students from other disciplines and industry specialists, visit artist studios, share skills, experiment and discover fresh ideas.

When you join UAL you automatically become part of the Students’ Union. We are here to help make your time at UAL better, whether you need advice about your course, you want to play sports or join societies, you want to change the university for the better or you just want to meet other people at UAL.
