The Nova Scotia International Student Program offers superior high school education to students around the world. The program is a wonderful and safe immersion in the language, music, art, and lifestyle of North America. Students enrolled in the International Student Program are attending high schools throughout Nova Scotia. Their studies and experience prepare them to enter a Canadian or American university.
Nova Scotia is a small Canadian province with a population of less than a million people, it is the home to 11 universities providing programs at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and it is a safe, clean province with a health care system among the best in the world.
We offer single term and full year programs in junior high school (Grades 7 to 9) and senior high school (Grades 10 to 12). Students are enrolled in a maximum of eight courses selected in consultation with the academic advisors in each school. Some schools offer International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement courses.
We offer single term and/or full year programs in high schools and junior high schools, as well as an ESL camp in July and August to students aged 13 to 18 years old. Classroom instruction in Nova Scotia would include lectures, group discussions, seminar, and practical training.
Students can choose from any number of extracurricular activities: outdoors pursuits include soccer, track and field, skiing, rugby, and golf. There are drama and music programs, student governments, debating and yearbook clubs, and even stock market clubs.
A home stay offers a comfortable home environment to international students. Nova Scotian families have hosted international students for many years. Children are carefully matched with local families at their new schools. This is an ideal way to "live the lifestyle" first hand. Children are made to feel a part of the host family and are included in all celebrations, outings, and activities. Homestays tend to generate the warmest memories and lasting bonds of friendship.
There are a variety of sports for students to participate in, including badminton, basketball, cheerleading, curling, football, golf, hockey, rugby, softball, soccer, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling.
The schools have a number of clubs/committees and activities that they participate in. The following are a few examples: drama, poetry, computer, stack market, out door enthusiasts, yearbook, safe grad, art, business, choir, chess, public speaking, band, student police, musical, and robotics just to name a few.
All schools are equipment state of the art computer labs with Internet access.
