Mount Royal offers a variety of bachelor degree, diploma and certificate programs. With a focus on undergraduate research and experiential learning, many programs offer honours streams, co-op education, work experience, practicums and other hands-on opportunities. Mount Royal students are prepared for the workforce or to further their studies at professional or graduate school.
Supporting students is a cornerstone of the Mount Royal identity. Student Learning Services helps develop superior learning and studying skills, while Career Services assists in turning scholastic success into a rewarding job. Wellness Services supports the mental, physical and overall well being of students, including counselling services, medical care, support groups and more. Students also have access to a full-service Recreation Centre, including gyms, squash courts, a 40-foot climbing wall, salt-water pool, intramural sports and personal trainers.

MRU has two residence complexes designed for independent student living. Combined, they accommodate about 1,000 students with an option for single-gender or gender-inclusive housing.
Our residences are available in either apartment or townhouse units. All residents have private, lockable bedrooms and share living rooms and kitchens with their unit mates.
Mount Royal provides students with academic advising, personal and educational counselling, and comprehensive health services. Student Learning Services offers workshops and individualized instruction on studying and writing, subject based peer tutoring and disabilities related services. The International Student Support Centre welcomes students from around the world. Campus facilities include our state-of-the-art library, recreation centre, bookstore, daycare and two food courts.
Career planning programs and services at MRU help students prepare for their work placements and future careers. They assist students with co-ops, work terms and other various work-integrated learning opportunities, helping them graduate with work-ready experience. Students can also access help with self-assessments, choosing a major, exploring the connection between their education and career choices, job searches, resume critiquing, job preparation and work experience. Recruitment and networking events are held to help students meet employers and gain experience in the world of work.
Mount Royal's Cougars athletic teams compete in the Canada West Division of USports against the top universities in Canada. Team sports for both men and women include hockey, basketball, soccer and volleyball. The Crowchild Classic, a series of games against city rival University of Calgary, takes place each January and is a campus highlight with the men's and women's hockey games played at the Saddledome, home of the Calgary Flames NHL team.
Mount Royal Recreation organizes a variety of intramural sports, fitness programs and special events. Facilities include soccer fields, salt-water pool, squash courts, dance studios, fitness centre, 40-foot climbing wall and indoor running track. The Canadian Rocky Mountains, just an hour from campus, offer world-class tourist destinations for outdoor adventure, like hiking and skiing.
Clubs are a great way to meet new people! Clubs can be academic, social, representational or cultural. Run through the Students' Association of Mount Royal University, clubs meet throughout the year to plan social events, fundraisers, graduation celebrations and more. By starting or joining a club, students can explore their interests while developing valuable friendships and leadership skills.
The Riddell Library and Learning Centre is a transformational learning and research environment that brings together students, expert faculty and staff with a wide range of technology and resources. With a 360 degree Immersion Studio, 3D printers, laser cutters and treadmill workstations, you'll be able to discover, understand, share and create all in one place.
Mount Royal students with young families can take advantage of the Child Care Centre, which provides care for children ages 19 months to five years, including a preschool. The Indigenous University Bridging Program through the Iniskim Centre provides a unique post-secondary preparation and support program for Indigenous students designed to meet their cultural and educational needs.
Mount Royal University offers a number of exciting outbound exchange opportunities around the world that let you study abroad and earn credits for your program back at MRU. There are also international field schools where you can travel with MRU faculty and students to combine experiential learning and coursework. Field Schools usually run in the spring semester and can range from four to six weeks, so they do not interfere with your regular program during Fall and Winter semesters. On campus, the International Student Support Centre also hosts regular cultural events for domestic and international students to enjoy.
