Room and board rates are based on a standard double room with 19 meals per week. Other housing options are available. Rates vary. University managed apartments are available for married students, students with families, and students over 21 years of age.
Many off-campus housing options are available and range from apartments to homes. Many are within walking distance of campus.
First year students will benefit from a one week orientation program held in August prior to the start of classes. The Center for Orientation, Mentoring, Parents, and Academic Student Success (COMPASS) provides additional services. Additional programming is offered in the residence halls, through over 180 student organizations, and a vibrant residential campus.
Our University Career Center does more than help you find a job. If you think you might want to change your major or you just want some reassurance that you are in the right major, this is the place to go. The Career Center also coordinates two job fairs annually (with over 200 companies attending each year), assists students in securing co-ops or internships, and provides assistance with resume writing, interview skills, and career preparation.
Michigan Tech competes in the WCHA Division I men's ice hockey. Division II sports include basketball (men's and women's), football (men's), volleyball (women's), cross country (men's and women's), track and field (men's and women's), tennis (men's and women's), and Nordic skiing (men's and women's).
We own and operate our own ski hill just minutes from campus. Mont Ripley offers challenging runs for skiers and snowboarders alike.
Over 180 student organizations including club sports and intramural sports are offered. Over 80% of our students participate in intramural sports.
PC Magazine ranked Michigan Tech as the seventh most wired university in the United States. High speed Internet is available in all residence hall rooms at no additional cost. Free wireless hot zones are located across campus. Each student has access to their departmental computer lab, most have 24/7 access.
A wide variety of cultural organizations are available to students. Our annual Parade of Nations held each year in September, showcases students, staff, faculty, and community members from over 80 countries. An ethnic food festival is held following the parade.

Michigan Tech offers many study abroad options for students in addition to a national exchange program. Additional programs such as Engineers Without Borders or the Peace Corps master's program are also offered.
The best way to learn about Michigan Tech is to visit our campus. Campus tours are offered twice daily on weekdays during the academic year and summer. Select Saturday visit days are offered during the academic year. Through our Husky Host program you can even stay overnight with a current student host.
