We recognise that each student will have a unique set of needs and preferences, and offer quiet/alcohol free and single-sex accommodation options subject to availability.

Incoming Students

Our International Student Advice Team (ISAT) is here to help with a range of services during your time at Oxford Brookes. The team provides friendly and confidential advice about your visa and immigration status, personal matters and much more. The team also arranges events and runs workshops to help you understand UK culture, meet new friends and make the most of your time in the UK. Finally, our Global Buddies scheme can partner you with a current UK student to help you settle into university life at Oxford Brookes. You might keep in touch throughout the year by email, via social media or in person, including at Global Buddies social events.

Career Planning

One reason you might study with us is the benefit an Oxford Brookes degree gives you when applying for your dream job. Our outstanding Careers service provides all the help you need including one-to-one consultations, practice interviews, workshops on job searching and CV/resume writing, and on-campus job fairs where you can meet prospective employers. You can use Careers for up to three years after you graduate.

Sports

We cater to a diverse range of student-athletes, from those wanting international success to those looking to make new friends. We work closely with the Brookes Active programme to ensure there are opportunities for all students to get active while at Oxford Brookes University. For the 2022-23 academic year, we had over 2,200 registered TEAMBrookes student-athletes, across 36 different sports clubs (1,400 in 2019-20). We finished 36th out of 140+ institutions in the National BUCS Rankings with 6 teams winning their BUCS League and achieving promotion.

Activities

When you join Oxford Brookes University, you automatically become a member of our Students' Union, Brookes Union. Run by students for students, we represent the student voice and provide free, independent advice on many issues. Our Student Reps work hard to represent your views and make sure your courses are the best they can be. Not only that, we support over 100 societies and run Fresher's Week and a range of events every year. So you'll never be short of things to do and activities to get involved with.

Clubs

Societies are a great way to make new friends. Whether you want to pursue a passion you already have or try new things, we have over 100 student-led societies. And if you can't find one for you, we can support you to start your own.

Special Services

Our Inclusive Support Service offers advice and guidance whenever you need it, throughout your time at university. Specialist support includes:

  • access to assistive technology
  • Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) funded, specialist mentoring and one-to-one study skills support
  • liaising with academic staff about reasonable adjustments
  • special exam arrangements
  • support when applying for accommodation
