Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland, is located in beautiful Corner Brook on the island of Newfoundland, Canada's easternmost province. Grenfell Campus offers degrees focusing on sustainability and the environment, as well as degrees in business, fine arts (theatre and visual arts), science, education, nursing and arts. ​With approximately 1,300 students, the campus is small, safe and intimate, offering individual attention from our award-winning faculty and staff. Thanks to generous funding from our provincial government, we are able to offer our high-quality programs at tuition rates that are the most affordable in Canada: $2,550 per year.



Grenfell Campus is a campus of Memorial University. Memorial University, founded in 1949, is a public university and is one of the largest universities in Atlantic Canada, with over 18,000 students and 100 programs over four campuses. Memorial University consistently ranks among the top five comprehensive universities in Canada in the Maclean’s magazine ranking of Canadian universities.

First year Grenfell students who apply by March 1 are guaranteed on-campus housing. Currently Grenfell offers both dorm-style housing and chalet apartments. The new Residence Complex opened in 2014 all students have private bedrooms. Four family apartments are also available. In addition, there is an application fee of $20.00 which is non refundable and a confirmation fee of $500.00 which counts as a deposit to the room. Incoming Students

Our orientation program will help you find your way and acquaint you with all you need to know to make the most of your time at Grenfell. Our facilities include a swimming pool and gym, new dining hall, bookstore and health services. Our library is part of Memorial's massive library system where you'll have 24/7 access to 50,000 e-journals and a half million e-books. And there are clubs and societies for almost anything you can imagine.

Career Planning

Career development services will help you develop a career plan. We'll hook you up with the skills, resources and contacts to help you reach your goals. Be part of the ACCESS program where we will pair you with a professional in your field of interest, and find out about career-specific volunteer opportunities. There are also about 600 student jobs available, many of which will help you to gain concrete career-specific skills.

Sports

A variety of intramural sports plus an aerobics program are available. The facilities include a gymnasium and swimming pool. The nearby civic centre offers squash courts, a fitness centre and two ice surfaces. A cross country ski park and a downhill ski resort (Marble Mountain) are minutes away by car.

Activities

Grenfell's student union operates the Student Centre, which houses the union offices, the food court and the student pub (The Backlot). The Backlot hosts weekly events such as Trivia Tuesdays, Karaoke Wednesdays, and Open Mic Thursdays. On Fridays, some of the best local bands and talent from across Atlantic Canada perform at the Student Centre.

Information Technology

Residence roommates are assigned using a personality compatibility program. All students are assigned an e-mail address as soon as they are accepted to the university. All residence rooms are wired for Internet service. Wireless service is available throughout the campus.

Cultural

Grenfell is a major cultural force in Corner Brook as a result of its two fine arts programs in theatre and visual arts. The Fine Arts Building features a 225-seat Shakespearean style theatre as well as an art gallery with a wide variety of exhibits. The city features galleries, coffee shops, restaurants and bars, as well as the Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre, just a two-minute walk from campus. The centre is the city's main theatre venue bringing nationally acclaimed musical and theatrical talent to its stage.

International Involvement

Memorial University of Newfoundland offers many opportunities to study in international settings. In fact, Memorial has its own campus in Harlow, England, not far from London. A number of disciplines offer programming at this campus, including Grenfell's theatre and visual arts programs.

Students studying French at Grenfell are encouraged to avail of Memorial's immersion program in St. Pierre et Miquelon, the French islands off the south coast of Newfoundland.

Grenfell is also a member of many exchange programs around the world, and articulation agreements allow for many international learning partnerships.
