Information Management professionals are increasingly required to assume managerial and leadership roles. Graduates with leadership abilities who can problem-solve effectively in complex environments, have a high tolerance for ambiguity and change, and who possess a strong service orientation are well-positioned for an exciting professional career. The Master of Information (MI) degree will prepare you to connect people with information, and to contribute to the information management profession and the discipline through service and scholarly research.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    According to the Faculty of Graduate Studies regulations, candidates for the MLIS must hold a four-year Bachelor's Degree with at least a second class standing (B average, 3.0 GPA) from a university recognized by the Senate of Dalhousie University. An academic level of a high B+ (3.3 GPA) or better is generally held by successful applicants.
    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 250] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 600] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 100] or Test of Written English (part of TOEFL) [min. 5.5]
    Application Notes : Candidates whose native language is not English must demonstrate their capacity to pursue a graduate-level program in English before admission. The standard test is the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language). Other acceptable tests and required test scores are: TOEFL (Computer: 250, Internet-based: 100, TWE: 5.5, Paper: 600); MELAB 95; IELTS 8.0; CAEL 70. English language competency scores may not be required if you have a university degree from an accredited institution in which the language of instruction is English.
