The Labour-Management Relations and Human Resources Major provides students with a general understanding of the factors affecting employer-employee relations, including labour unions and laws that regulate the employment relationship. It is integral to the practice of human resource management, particularly in a unionized environment. In addition to giving students a foundation in various aspects of labour relations and labour markets, this program provides understanding of federal and provincial labour legislation, training in collective bargaining, the administration of trade union contracts, handling of grievances and preparation for participation in arbitration proceedings, a view of human resources, problems and planning on the macro level.
The objective of the Labour-Management Relations and Human Resources Concentration is to provide a general understanding of the factors affecting employer-employee relations, both at the micro-level and in relation to the socio-economic context in which they occur. |
